Ten Cities tells the story of club music and club cultures in ten cities across Africa and Europe. It looks beyond the North Atlantic locations which usually receive the most attention and sets out to put together a more inclusive narrative. For each city, two essays written by local authors bring clubs to the fore as nocturnal laboratories for different ways of life. A photo-sequence runs parallel to the texts, as an essay of its own.
All ten cities are equally represented thanks to a modular layout system: by choosing between three possible font sizes and margins, each essay is typeset to fit on 18 pages. The chapters are organised according to the city’s geographic position, going from East to West.
